Seafood Lovers Nest @ Pohang

One of the most popular fish markets on South Korea’s east coast is the Jukdo Seafood Market.

Main walkway at the seafood market

Given the opportunity to participate the FamTour on the 1st and 2nd of June, we were treated to lunch by the Gyeongsangbuk Tourism Organization at our first stop, The Jukdo Market.

Here in this restaurant called Hyeongje, which means brother, we enjoyed a sumptuous seafood lunch.

At Hyeongje’s restaurant, we enjoyed a variety of seafood dishes like fermented saewu [shrimp], gejang [small crabs], jeonbok [abalones], spicy fish stew called maeuntang and the house’s specialty- hwedeopbap a.k.a sashimi rice bowl.

Prices at Hyeongje’s ranges from 70000won to 130000- raw fish, crab and lobster set for 2 to 4 people; raw fish and king crab set starts at 100000won.

Other varieties are meongge-hoe also known as sea squirts or sea pineapple.

At the end of the fresh seafood main walkway lies an array of dried goods as seaweeds and fish.

Indeed, The Pohang Jukdo Market has something for every seafood lover, may it be fresh or preserved.

How to get there:

The Pohang Jukdo Market opens daily from 8am to 10pm.

From Shiwae (Intercity) or Gosok (Express) Bus Terminals, take the buses:

101, 102, 105, 107

Getting around by taxi in most places in Pohang costs about 10000won from a base fare of 2,200won and a 100won increments depending on distance or time.
