White Beach Boracay

Updated: Jun 16, 2019

Hailed among the best beaches in the world by many travel magazines, Boracay's long white sand beaches is worth an experience.

Keep browsing to check out my Boracay escape.

There are two airports in Boracay. Kalibo which caters International flights and quite far from the main island and Caticlan which is just roughly 15mins on a speed boat we requested from our hotel, Astoria Boracay at Station 1.

Timewise, it would be best to request for an airport transfer service from your hotel otherwise you'll stress yourself out on jumping from port to port. Around $50(prices may vary from hotels) for two may a bit pricey but worth it.

Cliche' it may sound but I do agree that the best way to know a place is to eat it!

Astoria Boracay offers good Italian buffet where one of my fusion fave is the salted egg pizza and the good old pandan juice (made from screwpine leaf).

Pig Out Bistro, a nearby restaurant also serves sumptuous dishes.

Check out their website at http://thepigout.restaurantsnapshot.com/

D' Talipapa is also a must visit. Check out a wide variety of fresh catch seafood and don't limit your bargaining to price. Shop all the mouth-watering fresh seafood your appetite can handle and have it later cooked in your preference at the nearby restaurants. Cooking charges ranges from $3 to $5 depending on the quantity and flavor of choice. There we got Lobsters for $35 and cooked in garlic butter for $4; King crabs for $15 and cooked in chili sauce for $3; Prawns for $10 in butter for a $3 cooking charge.

Stand Up Paddle

An hour for $10 or $5 for thirty mins; you can have it all to yourself or for sharing. Tours and other activities are pretty negotiable in Boracay. Tour agents are well spread on the beach side so there's no need to make advance reservations (depending on peak seasons of course).

You can customize tours like banana boating, island hopping, parasailing, etc.

Here we tried helmet diving ( I was kind of grumpy because I was looking forward to parasailing but since I've brought a coward who's afraid of heights, I didn't have a choice).

You'll be taken on a speedboat to 20 meters deep, wear a 35kgs helmet and go down the water. You'll be taught survival sign languages like thumbs up if you're still breathing and down if you're in bloody need of help.

Carrying a 35kgs on your shoulder seem like a torture but wait 'till your on your way down when your head seem to burst because of pressure. I succeeded on my 2nd attempt. I realized I just need to breath in and out normally.

Fast forward to me walking underneath, the helmet now weighs 33kgs less; the tour guide slash photographer was giving me crushed biscuits to encourage fishes to appear in my face so I could get a nice shot. Yes, I surely did, I would like to think. After all, I deserve good shots for weight lifting underwater exhibition

After around 30 minutes we surfaced and was informed that we'll be given our underwater pictures on a CD after 2 hours. You may go to their booth or have it delivered in your hotel.

You might be browsing where those underwater shots have gone, so to continue the story, I got nothing because the memory card was broken. LOL Lucky day!

They offered us to do the diving again for free just for the shots but hell no, I was so done with the ear pressure. It was still a good experience though.

After a whole day of tours and activities, we opted to dine via room service and requested the front desk for masseuse to ease rarely winded muscles.

In-room massage service fee starts at $15
